Our exceptional standard of care is the most important aspect of our nursing home.Ours is a holistic approach to care - we strive to maintain patient independence for as long as possible in a very supportive environment. We provide excellent convalescent, respite and residential care, in luxury surroundings that cater to our residents’ every need. We also provide exceptional care for people with impaired memory, judgement, social and language skills.
Our residents are attended to by our General Practitioner, who carries out a twice weekly clinic. The Doctor-on-Call Service attends to our residents out of hours. For serious medical emergencies we have ready access St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny. Our high staff to resident ratio ensures that care is provided in a homely, safe and secure environment where each resident has the space for independence with the security of constant care, in a user-friendly building. Signature Care Killerig is registered with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and inspected regularly to ensure that standards of care are being maintained – a copy of our latest report can be obtained online at www.hiqa.ie (centre 5454). At Signature Care Killerig we ensure people feel secure, comfortable and have an exceptional level of care throughout their stay. |
Our Social Activities
We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator, who is very much guided by our Residents’ Committee as to what activities are arranged, both within the community and outside. Our nursing home regularly organises day trips for residents and we encourage participation in external activities outside of these arrangements. All members of staff are involved in social activities within the nursing home. Visiting Visitors are always very welcome at Signature Care Killerig. We have several areas where they can comfortably spend time with our residents, and can also enjoy our gardens and the residents’ kitchen. We request that all visitors sign our Visitors Book on arrival & departure. Safety Emergency Call Buttons are provided in each bedroom, bathroom and our living areas – ensuring our residents feel secure at all times. Regular fire alarm tests are conducted and we have the latest technology in building management systems in place. |
Our Meals & Nutrition
Mealtimes are a relaxed part of each day, with lots of time for chat and socialising. Fully recognising the importance of good nutrition, our Head Chef leads the team in planning menus, cooking up a wonderful array of fresh and tasty meals daily, in consultation with our dietitian. Our menus are flexible, ensuring there is plenty of variety, our lunch and dinner menus feature all the favourites, along with some delicious surprises.
The lovely smell of freshly baked scones and breads gets each day off to a good start and, while we encourage all residents to come to the dining room for meals, we can also arrange to serve meals to rooms. Our kitchens are state of the art and meet the full HACCP Quality Assurance Standard.
